Homeowners in London are cashing in on new electric cars by offering owners the chance to use driveways across the capital as charging stations.

Clued-up residents can advertise their spaces on the website ParkatmyHouse.com, which has teamed up with energy company SSE and TfL's Source London scheme.
Through the Plugged in Places funding initiative, electric vehicle charge point manufacturer, Chargemaster, is even offering electric vehicle charge points, which usually cost £1,500, free of charge.

Chargemaster is expecting to install an additional 200 charge points over the coming months, adding to the 800 already in place as part of TfL's Source London scheme.

Currently, electric car drivers can't book charge point spaces in public places, but having charge points available at people's homes means that electric car drivers will now be able to reserve charge points in advance, and it is hoped this will boost confidence in the new vehicle technology and help London reduce overall emissions.

Anthony Eskinazi, chief executive of ParkatmyHouse.com, said: "This will this provide EV drivers with additional charge points throughout the capital and help speed up the adoption of electric cars in London, enabling homeowners to generate a new source of income from electric car drivers in the process."
