The original Batmobile from the 1960s TV series is due to come to auction in January.
Hardcore fans of the comic-book series, which made a comeback to the big screen in 2005 and grossed almost $50 million over its opening weekend, will flock to the Barrett-Jackson auction house in Scottsdale, Arizona for a chance to bid on this ultimate piece of film memorabilia.
The 19-foot-long black, bubble-topped car was used in the TV show that starred Adam West as the Caped Crusader.
Current owner George Barris, famed for customising cars, was responsible for transforming a one-of-a-kind 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car into a sleek crime-fighting machine.
During the show, the car boasted gadgets such as lasers, smoke screens and oil slicks. Although basic by modern standards, these would have been as cutting edge as current-Batman star Christian Bale's gadgets, like the mobile phone sonar device used to find the Joker in the second Batman film, the Dark Knight.
Back then, however, designers and writers weren't to know they were dealing with a piece of technology that would transform the world. The futuristic, car-mounted, 'Batphone' might be primitive with its corded handset, but it hinted towards a mobile communication device that Batman could use to call while he was out tackling crime in Gotham city - devices that are now commonplace throughout the world.
But as with all movie memorabilia, the car has some secrets and the auction house is remaining tight-lipped with regard to how much it hopes the car will sell for.
The car goes under the hammer on January 19, 2013.
