The car was originally purchased by McQueen's Solar Productions film company for his 1971 movie "Le Mans". The iconic actor used three Lola models in the end, including this particular car, as his penchant for crashing vehicles saw the actor burn through props at quite a rate.
The Lola was dressed up to look like a Gulf-Porsche 917 for a scheduled crash sequence that sees the stunning racer spectacularly buried into the barriers at high speed.
Luckily, a collector restored the wreckage and subsequently raced it in various classic meetings.
Now, the model is expected to fetch between £570,000 and £650,000 when it is auctioned during the Race Retro & Classic Car sale at Stoneleigh Park on February 23.
