Seat
Based on the same platform which also underpins the A3, Octavia and Golf, the Leon SC Coupe is identical to the five-door hatch until you get past the A-pillars.
With the tapered side windows, lower roofline and curvier rear windows there's no doubt it does look sportier. A reduction of 35mm to the wheelbase also helps the curvy profile, although we're told the 380-litres of boot space remains unchanged.
With the SC, SEAT has been inspired by its past designs. Look closer and there are some of the 2010 IBE electric concept car styling cues, especially around the rear of this Leon's design.
The Leon SC uses the same engines as the five-door and whether you go for petrol or diesel power all are turbocharged, with power outputs ranging between 104 and 181bhp. The cleanest version being a 1.6 TDi diesel that emits less than 100 grammes of Co2 Like the hatch, the Leon SC will be offered in S, SE and FR trims.
The FR is the sportiest at launch, but we wouldn't be surprised if SEAT is working on a hardcore, high performance Cupra range-topper.
The next member of the Leon range that we believe SEAT will launch is an ST estate model. The SEAT Leon SC will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, with an expected UK launch in July.
