But we can reveal that the 887bhp monster will use a mid-mounted 4.6-litre V8 as well as two lithium-ion powered electric motors to deliver a 0-62mph sprint time of just 2.8 seconds.
That's up there in Formula 1 car territory.
All that power doesn't come cheap as the 918 Spyder will set customers back a whopping £659,879 for the most 'basic' model and £720,701 for a 'Weissach' package that sees extra weight saving methods employed, Alcantara trim added and sound-proofing removed for a full-fat supercar experience.
The Porsche 918 Spyder is as close to a race car-for-the-road as one can get thanks to the liberal use of motorsport technology. The carbon monocoque, for example, has been inspired by motorsport design while the drivetrain components, and all components weighing over 50 kg, are located as low and as centrally as possible within the vehicle to ensure optimal handling.
But don't think that because the 918 uses battery power it won't deliver the goods aurally. So-called 'top pipes' see the exhausts exit at the upper part of the rear of the car for improved heat removal... they also pump the glorious soundtrack out behind the driver's head.
Perhaps the most impressive statistic is, despite the monstrous amount of power on offer, the 918 emits just 79g/km of CO2.
That means it is exempt from road tax but just misses out on free travel through Central London under the new rules due to be implemented.
The car is still undergoing final tests and there is no word on a release date as yet, so for now, the gallery below will have to suffice.
