Prince Charles takes a Morgan Plus 4 for a spin

The Prince of Wales looked like he was having the time of his life as he paid a visit to the Morgan sports car production line in Malvern, Worcestershire yesterday.

Not one to simply stand in the wings and observe, Prince Charles tried his hand at the manufacturing process, stamping part of a bonnet cover with a rather worried expression on his face.
Afterwards he asked the factory staff: "Are you sure I haven't ruined it?"

Barry White, who has worked on the production line for 49 years, oversaw Charles' effort.

He said: "It was in the right place, but to be honest you can't go wrong."

Charles soon itched for a spin in one of the company's iconic sports cars and was ushered behind the wheel of a bright red Morgan Plus 4, which he piloted around the grounds and waved to the crowds of photographers on hand.
He was also impressed with the Morgan Motor Company's three-wheeler model, saying: "It's a bit like a Wallace and Gromit car."

The Prince met some of the 180 staff and apprentices on the site including 19-year-old coach-builder Sam Mackintosh who said Charles was "interested" and "impressed" with his work.

He was also given a toy bear from the factory gift shop as a reminder of his visit.

As he left, the Prince said Morgan, which makes 1,400 cars a year, "was a great example of British manufacturing". Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below
