These limited production versions, dubbed Bugatti Legends, have been designed to commemorate racing drivers, engineers and individuals who have helped shape the history of the brand.
According to Autocar, the first special edition to be unveiled will be dedicated to Jean-Pierre Wimille, a French Grand Prix driver who drove various Bugattis at hill climbs and Grand Prix events all over the world.
The driver also secured two victories for Bugatti at the 24 Hours of Le Man, one in 1937 driving a T57G nicknamed 'The Tank' with fellow racer Robert Benoist and then again in 1939 with Pierre Veyron, the man who the 16.4 Bugatti is named in honour of.
Wimille special editions will be decked out in a stunning blue-tinted carbonfibre colour scheme and will be based on the potent 16.4 Grand Vitesse which is powered by an 8-litre W16 engine that produces a breath-taking 1184bhp.
The first Legend will be unveiled at Pebble Beach, California on 16-18 August.
These won't be the first special editions Bugatti has released in order to re-ignite interest in the brand. In fact, there have been around fifteen limited models since the car first rolled off production lines in 2005.
Among the most notable and eye-catching are the Sang Bleu and the Red Edition with the former sporting beautiful blue paintwork and polished aluminium body panelling.
A number of extremely wealthy customers have also specified bespoke coachwork, including the Sang Blanc, which was requested by a well-heeled UK buyer. It was finished in a matte pearlescent white with black front grille, exhaust and engine cover, as well as a black interior.
