The Geneva Motor Show opens its doors to the press tomorrow and all the news you could ever hope for will leap forth. Until then, however, we have what manufacturers are pre-releasing. Volkswagen has revealed an interesting offering - the Cross Coupé Concept.
It looks a touch like an Amarok pick-up and a Touareg have had a tryst in a stationary cupboard. That's no bad thing, as their genetics are rather fine indeed. However, we do have to point out that because of its two rear doors it isn't actually a coupé. So it's more of a cross. Which is, erm... strange.Name aside it's rather smart, because its powertrain is a bit trick. The Cross uses a VW TDI engine and twins it with two electric motors giving it 306hp. Which should be... enough for spirited driving, especially as it'll top out at 137mph.
Because of the Cross' diesel-electric hybrid set up it's incredibly economical. It'll achieve (allegedly) 157mpg and emits only 46g/km. Which is rather impressive, when you think about it.
We'll find out more about it when the Geneva Motor Show kicks off properly.
