The Disco Volante 2012 is set to become one of the rarest, most extraordinary and most expensive coupés in existence.
Yet, all it takes to own one is an old Alfa Romeo, a bit of cash and a bit more patience.
Ok, so it's an Alfa 8C Competizione you'll need. That's the Ferrari-powered supercar that's limited to just 500, each at £100,000. Oh, and it's a six-month wait.
Supercar owners aren't necessarily famed for their patience, but the Disco Volante certainly seems worth waiting for.
Designed by Milan company Touring Superleggera, whose recent work includes a custom-bodied Bentley Continental GT estate, the Disco Volante pays homage to the trio of 1950s Alfa Romeo concept cars of the same name.

It does not pay homage to Disco Volante, the seminal Mr Bungle album, which some people called "only the LP Bat Out Of Hell should have been."
Touring Superleggera will unveil the Disco Volante at the Geneva Motor Show, and will thereafter begin taking orders for the car. Each one will keep the Alfa's 4.7-litre V8 engine, but will wrap it in a more angular body, lightened by extensive use of carbon fibre.
We know not how much it will cost, but we're thinking roughly in the region of more than a Hyundai i20. It will debut tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show.
