Michael Owen found his black Mercedes C63 AMG looking like it had been in a food fight on Sunday after prankster teammates gave the retiring striker an unwelcome send off.

Owen was about to partake in his final home game for Stoke at the weekend before hanging his boots up for good but fellow teammates decided the former England star required one final memento.
Pictures surfaced on Twitter of the black Merc covered in eggs and flour with Owen commenting on the social media site: "This is what I will miss once I hang up my boots! Looks like I may be delayed getting to the match #eggs&flour."

The Stoke striker then Tweeted a list of culprits, naming Dean Whitehead and Glenn Whelan as the most likely mischief-makers.

"It's a long week lads. Revenge is in the air! Chief suspects: Whitehead and Whelan. Huth is a possible too," he added.

"Walters is a possible. Others who can't be ruled out: Crouch, Etherington."

Owen announced his retirement earlier this year, with recurring injuries the reason he spent many of his latter years on the bench. The FA has already opened talks with Owen about a possible ambassadorial role with England.

The 33-year-old said on his website upon announcing his retirement: "Having progressed through the ranks at Liverpool to make my first-team debut at 17, before embarking upon spells at Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Stoke City, not to mention representing my country on 89 occasions, I now feel it is the right time to bring the curtain down on my career."

The star didn't comment on how long it took to remove the baking goods from his pride and joy, though.
